Grandmaster Christopher Davies recently returned from Seoul, South Korea, where he represented the UK as part of an 8-person Chungdokwan team at a significant international competition.
Held at the Kukkiwon — the official World Taekwondo Headquarters and widely regarded as the Mecca of Taekwondo — the event was a special occasion for the United Nations Korea Association World Peace Championships and the World Chungdokwan Federation.
Grandmaster Davies is no stranger to Korea or the Kukkiwon, having travelled there many times over the years for advanced training and high-level testing. His deep connection to the birthplace of Taekwondo made this championship all the more meaningful.
The event attracted competitors from over 20 nations, and the UK team delivered an exceptional performance, finishing 2nd overall in the team standings. Grandmaster Davies led by example, winning a gold medal in his individual category, while the team secured 3 silver and 3 bronze medals across various divisions.
This achievement highlights both the strength of Chungdokwan and Bristol Taekwondo on the international stage and the top-class instruction available in Kingswood through Grandmaster Davies’ teaching. His continued dedication serves as an inspiration to students and martial artists across the community.
